Sanctions on Iran = War?

January 15, 2012

President Bush listed Iran as a part of an “Axis of Evil” following the attacks of September 11th and the buildup to Iraqi: Operation Freedom.  For the past ten years I have had to explain why the United States will not follow policies seen similarly around the region.  The use of sanctions is an interesting concept, except that the United States has had economic sanctions on Iran since the Islamic Revolution took place in 1979.  I was forwarded this video of Ron Paul explaining in a different reason why sanctions is an inefficient and dangerous policy option for the United States against Iran

I will leave you with this thought.  Does the United States really want a war with Iran?  We could not handle the insurgencies in Iraq and struggled in Afghanistan.  Why would we have any more success against the Iranians?  There are plenty of domestic issues that can keep politicians busy for years and maybe that is where our focus should be?  Thoughts?
